Artist Statement
I am a visual artist and designer based in Houston, Texas. I approach my work with multidisciplinary methods that are informed by a background in architecture. I am interested in study of inner workings of the nature of the world. I have set my mind to investigating the nuances of my environment, whether it be human, built, or natural. My current exploration deals with fibers and metals.
I am keenly interested in the juxtaposition of modernity over historical and societal infrastructure. I investigate society’s impact and interaction with nature. I believe that modern life is best approached with an appreciation of history so as to create in a sustainable and responsible manner. My process is as focused on the exploration, experience, and engagement of each project as it is on the final product. My design work ranges from serious & minimalist to ornate & whimsical, but is always informed by the past & present as it moves toward the future. I take cultural standards and readapt to a modern voice.
Education Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture, University of Houston
Degree Environmental Design, B.S. Major Architecture Year 2007
Arrowmont School for Arts & Crafts, Summer 2015, Enamel Studies

Additional Art Education
Through both my professional career & personal pursuits, I’ve had the opportunity to explore in a variety of media in my work: painting (acrylic, oil, watercolor, encaustic), resin, precious metal clay, polymer clay, bookbinding, digital media, and most recently fibers & enamel. I have extensive training in modeling and technical drawing from my architectural education. I am currently a teaching artist and coordinator for an eco-art non-profit organization where I develop and implement STEAM enrichment to students of all ages. Prior to this I was the marketing & educational coordinator for a local art supply company where I arranged art education workshops for the public and professional development sessions for art educators.
